A couple in the United States chose a novel way to name their newborn child— by asking Facbook users to decide the name for them.
Dave and Lindsey Meske put up four names — Madelyn, McKenna, Addilyne and Emily— for their newborn baby girl, in a poll titled ‘ Name My Child’ on the social networking site.
Eventually, 1310 people out of nearly 4200 polled for Madelyn , with Emily getting 1,265 votes, McKenna 938 votes and Addilyne 687 votes.
"That’s my favorite — I'm very happy about it,” Dave was quoted as having said.
“Lindsey had more friends and family on Facebook, so I had to even the playing field,” he added.
Dave said he and his wife had decided ‘Cooper’ as the name of the baby, thinking it would be a boy, but turned to Facebook for help when doctors revealed that the baby was going to be a girl.
