BSkyB Case Study
BSkyB are one of the most well known brands operating in the UK today. They provide
a range of services, including satellite and digital television, broadband services
and telephone services. They are one of the largest and most well known brands in the UK.
BSkyB are currently in the process of switching over all of their operating systems
to the Windows 7 OS recently released by Microsoft. As such they needed to collect
a range of user data from their current employees to find out current user information
which would then be utilised in facilitating a successful migration of all BSkyB
services over to the new operating system.
The problem faced by BSkyB was finding a quick and efficient way to collect the
relevant user data from their employees. The method chosen would have to ensure
minimal paperwork, while also achieving a degree of automation that could make it
easier to implement.
Imobisoft were tasked with creating a fully integrated survey solution that would
allow BSkyB to individually assess each staff member and obtain the required information
This information was then sent to an online database that would be fully usable
by BSkyB to complete the migration to Windows 7.
The data was fully encrypted to ensure maximum security levels and could be extracted
by BSkyB when and if needed. All data maintained was subject to the Data Protection
Act 1998 and Imobisoft made sure to comply with all data protection and security
procedures when handling the attained data.
